The National Currency is Hryvnia, UAH In Ukraine, we use banknotes of denominations 1 to 500. In Kyiv, there are many ATMs, banks and currency exchange points, so you can easily cash money or exchange it for any other currency.
Today in Kyiv, almost all hotels, restaurants and supermarkets accept payments by credit cards so you can pay for products and services with Visа, MаstеrCаrd or Eurocard. Also, you can use a credit card to pay for a metro ride.
USA dollars and Euros are the most popular foreign currency in Ukraine and can easily be exchanged at exchange points or banks.
Banks in Ukraine usually work from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Most banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday.

The best way to move around the city is Metro. In the Underground there are many beautiful historic stations.To travel you need to buy a card or tokens in a vending machine or at the ticket office. The metro doesn’t work at night.
In addition, the available types of transport are Buses, Trolleybuses, Trams. Not all types of urban transport have schedule and the intervals can vary between 5 and 60 minutes. Tickets can be purchased either in kiosks near the stops or from ticket officers and drivers.
Price depends on a rout and type of the transport.
Upper part of the city center and Podil district are united by Kiev funicular – the oldest transport in the city. There are two stations on the route: the upper, located on St. Vladimir’s Hill near St. Michael’s Cathedral, and the lower one located on Poshtova Ploshcha square.
Taxi is also available in the city. For best service and transparent pricing experience, we recommend such taxi companies as Uber and Uklon. Both of them have mobile apps that you can use to book a trip.
There are two Airports in Kyiv region.
Boryspil International Airport is the largest and the busiest airport in Ukraine. It provides over 67% of the passenger air traffic of Ukraine, handling over 10 million passengers per year. The airport is located 35 km from Kyiv, near the city of Boryspil.

Sky Bus takes you from Boryspil International Airport to Kyiv city (passing through “Kharkivska” subway station to the main railway station “Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi”, railway terminal “Pivdennyi”). Kyiv International Airport (Zhulyany) is located 8 km from the center of Kyiv. Getting to the airport quite comfortably and easily. Not far from the airport railway station is Kyiv-Volyn, so you can quickly get to the CP MA “Kyiv” at the opposite end of town or suburb. There is a convenient airport location 1.5 km from the ring road.
The public transport stop is located 200 meters from entry to Terminal A, D and 50 meters from entry to Terminal B. The final stop of trolleybus №22 is located in front of the terminal B.
Public transport runs from 06:30 till 22:30.
In Ukraine, the official language is Ukrainian, Russian is widely used as well. A lot of young people also speak English.
